The Tariq Khamisa Foundation was founded by Azim Khamisa whose 20 year old son was shot and killed by a 14 year old gang member. The result of this tragedy was not revenge or hate, but forgiveness and love.
How many times have you heard students say, if he hits me, I will hit him back or, if you talk about my family, I’m going to talk about your family? This type of language and action perpetuates the cycle of violence and revenge. TKF’s goal is to break this cycle through the power of forgiveness.
TKF’s 12-week Ending the Cycle of Violence curriculum explores different topics that our young people are dealing with today such as health, drugs, violence, anger, and the possibility of forgiveness. TKF also focuses on the power of choices and the resulting consequences. Our curriculum incorporates video, hands on learning and discussion in order to engage students and empower them to make a positive choice.
TKF wants educators from all over the country to be able to facilitate our Ending the Cycle of Violence curriculum. Due to the sensitive nature of this curriculum, we have created an intense, interactive, and informative training that will allow you to become more familiar with our program.
Be prepared to explore your own views on violence and forgiveness, participate in activities surrounding drugs and health and learn how to facilitate a powerful curriculum.
