Summer Matters Strand

The focus is on building quality summer learning opportunities that complement strong after school and school day programming, and that inspire and motivate learning during the summer and throughout the year.

Quality summer learning programs offer:

o Creative approaches to teaching that build mastery and inspire children to learn – particularly those who are behind.

o A wide array of activities that are meaningful and engaging to children, such as the arts, physical education, science, service learning and more.

o Opportunities to be active and learn collaboratively.

o Partnerships with the community – non-profits, parks, libraries, museums, universities – that expand horizons, meet local needs and leverage resources.

Summer Matters workshops will be interactive, engaging and relevant, with strategies and tools aligned to the National Summer Learning Association’s quality standards for summer programs.

In addition:

Please join us Friday afternoon for the second annual Summer Matters Reception.

Snacks, drinks and the opportunity to explore your ideas for supporting kids and celebrating summer.

See you in the sun!
